Our organic farm: Originally good

Close to nature

Shaped by our origins, influenced by the environment and grown over generations: our organic approach is reflected in many facets. From the biodiversity of the meadows around the farm, to our animals fed with pure and nutritious hay from our own meadows and mountain pastures, to the natural cultivation of our vegetable and herb gardens. Our farm has been certified as an organic farm since 2020, which we are very excited about.

Our meadows

A sea of colours and shapes

Companions for hundreds of years: the meadow flowers around the farm. Rare beauties meet useful grasses and brightly coloured flowers. Meadow sage, red campion, daisies, forget-me-nots and the like - picture-book impressions. But beware: many of these rarities are protected! In the summer, the meadows are mown by hand and the nutritious hay is collected and taken to the hay barn to provide our cows with a nutritious source of energy in the winter. Our guests are welcome to help with the haymaking!

Our animals

Great protectors & hardworking animals

Although much has changed at Grotthof in recent years, one thing has remained the same: the animals that have always been part of the farm. A new addition is our small herd of Galloway cattle, which graze our meadows and hay and live outdoors all year round. As well as the large, imposing cattle, our hard-working chickens and quail provide fresh eggs, the peacock shows off its feathers and the cats are a delight to our young visitors.

Our garden

A mélange of scents

Our garden, which can also be described as Grandma Luise's kingdom, is home to crisp vegetables, fragrant herbs and tempting berries. With a lot of hard work and dedication, but also a lot of joy, our grandmother works in the garden every day and with success. The youngest generation is also very enthusiastic and works hard. Our guests are sometimes surprised with one or two delicacies from the garden for breakfast.
