Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. At the Grotthof we pay special attention to it. Grandma Luise made breakfast in the historic parlour legendary. Today, Annelie continues the breakfast tradition and offers our guests all year round many homemade delicacies, fruit and vegetables from the garden, as well as typical South Tyrolean specialities - the perfect start to the day!
Rich, varied and the best from the cellar and pantry of the Grotthof. For those with a sweet tooth there are homemade jams, fruit spreads, cakes, smoked sausages and South Tyrolean butter for breakfast rolls, tempting desserts, delicious South Tyrolean yoghurt and seasonal fruit and vegetables. For those with a hearty appetite, we have prosciutto, eggs from our own hens, a variety of fresh breads, spreads and tasty cheeses, as well as sausages from South Tyrolean farms. Coffee with fresh milk or cream, herbal teas and other infusions, homemade juices and hot chocolate complete the offer. Breakfast is served between 8 and 10 a.m. in our "Stube", which has a very special atmosphere with its wooden panelling and cosy tiled stove, or we can leave a breakfast basket at your door.
Our historic parlour with wood panelling dating from 1929 is available to guests at any time. The wood-burning stove and the comfortable wooden floor create a cosy atmosphere. The balcony with its unique view of the Weisshorn and Schwarzhorn mountains, as well as the entire Eggen Valley and the regional capital of Bolzano, invites you to relax and recharge your batteries. Younger guests can enjoy the children's play area. The lounge is not only a lounge but also a breakfast room.
What better way to round off an eventful day than with a barbecue? Reflect on the day's experiences, learn more about the history of the Grotthof or simply enjoy the special holiday time away from the hustle and bustle. On request and weather permitting, Annelie fires up the barbecue once a week and spoils guests with the best South Tyrolean meats and seasonal vegetables. Barbecuing at sunset with views of the bizarre mountain scenery around the Grotthof is a special experience. Cosy, idyllic and convivial: how does that sound to you?
